Managing Driving Risk

It is estimated that nearly one third of all road fatalities and 21 per cent of all casualties (killed, seriously injured and slightly injured) occur in driving-for-work collisions. making it the single biggest safety issue facing UK industry.

Directors and senior managers now face tough fines, or even prison, if they fail to adequately manage their 'duty of care' for employees who drive. We've created our Driving at Work service specifically to help organisations manage their Occupational Road Risk.

In addition, the Government has introduced Corporate Manslaughter legislation, and with a number of police initiatives also, you simply can't ignore or defer ORR issues any more.

Our service is designed to help companies and their fleet managers tackle ORR. Completing the Company Audit will provide you with your own set of remedial actions to help you comply with the law. The Driver Audit manager also allows your drivers to complete individual audits, which are uploaded to the system for central monitoring.

The Driving at Work section provides you with information on occupational road risk and helps you manage legislation and guidance on Corporate Manslaughter.

Your drivers may be hundreds of miles away - but the 'duty of care' remains with you.

Does this affect my business?

  • Some employers mistakenly believe it's enough to simply comply with road traffic laws such as valid MOTs and driving licences.
  • It's much more than that. Health and safety law applies to all driving for work activities - even just popping out for the office sandwiches.
  • Employers need to manage those risks effectively using the appropriate management system.
